Art lovers from around the foothills, and far away, have developed a new tradition. It's a tradition of gathering at Julie Baker Fine Art in Grass Valley, whether it's for an art opening, a VIP reception for visiting celebrities or one of the many ARt Talks given by the artists. The Art Talk with the charismatic Menlo macfarlane and his "Foul-Mothed Boy." was a standing-room-only local favorite. Amy Shilling and her lovely jewelry was displayed along with champaigne and chocolate – a Valentine event hat everyone loved and talked about for days. Also, Norman Locks' photography is presented for hanging in your home or office.
Julie Baker is enhancing the landscape of art and culture in Nevada County, creating a new venue for contemporary art that is sophistaicated yet inviting – a place to share the inspiration of art. The gallery has a room called "Source"; set up to display the inpiration of many artists that the gallery represents. It alows Julie to share with the gallery guests her adventures in visiting the artists and finding out their sources of inspiration. She has not only brought in artists from around the country for local enjoyment, but she has also taken local artists and exposed them to a national market. Julie has a keen eye for talent and know how to bring that talent to a high level of success. And, when help is asked of Julie to build strength in the local art scene, her standard response is: "I ould definitely do that." As for art at the gallery, you will find a wide range, from simple to extravagant. Come early and return often to see the most as the show changes. Don't miss an opening and don't be late, as some works are spoken for by the end of the evening. Take a sneak preview by visiting Julie's website at www.juliebakerfineart.com.
